Most people live in Barcelona; the embassy is in Madrid
Almost all Bangladeshi residents in Catalonia live in the province of Barcelona —97 % as of 31 December 2021— but the Embassy of Bangladesh in Spain is in Madrid, on calle Manuel Marañón 13. That turns any procedure into a trip or a shipment. We do that shipment: between Barcelona and Madrid, and between Spain and Bangladesh.

- NID, the Bangladeshi national identity card, and the papers that go with it.
- Academic degrees and transcripts to study or work in Spain.

Bangladesh's apostille dates from 2025, and it isn't valid everywhere
Bangladesh joined the Hague Convention on 30 March 2025. It is recent, which is why many people —and many agencies— still believe consular legalisation is required. For Spain it no longer is: Spain did not object to the accession, so an apostilled Bangladeshi document is valid here.
The nuance matters if your destination is not Spain: twelve countries objected to Bangladesh's accession —among them Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Denmark and Greece— and for those, the usual consular legalisation is still required. If you move from Spain to France with Bangladeshi papers, this affects you.
On the Bangladeshi side, the apostille is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its official e-Apostille platform. On the Spanish side, it is issued by the Ministry of Justice or the Notarial Colleges, depending on the document.
